New Illinois: Second Constitutional Convention

November 11, 2022 @ 5:00 pm - November 12, 2022 @ 5:00 pm

Join us as we celebrate the second session of a constitutional convention for a new state. New Illinois’ convention will be held in Effingham, Illinois on Friday evening, November 11, 2022 and through lunch on Saturday, November 12, 2022.

Tickets must be purchased in advance at https://www.tickettailor.com/events/newillinois/785651. Information on group hotel rates also available at this link.

Registration will be from 3:30 – 5:30 PM on Friday, with the social hour starting at 5:00 PM. Friday evening dinner will be followed by speakers: Ted Dabrowski, financial expert and President of Wirepoints, and Mark Alan Motsinger, Southern Illinois historian and Advisory Board Member of the Illinois State Historical Society.

The idea of splitting the State of Illinois goes back decades. Mark Alan Motsinger will explain the roots of the divide between downstate and Chicago and bring the story to life.

For years, Illinois has been ranked as having the worst financial health of all fifty states. Ted Dabrowski will discuss what’s wrong with Illinois and ways in which a state’s finances can be functional, healthy, and transparent.

Saturday morning will again feature our speakers and include a question-and-answer time. There will also be a presentation on the financial considerations for a new state, the proposed borders, and the progress on the New Illinois Constitution. The Saturday session will be followed by lunch.
